Dr. Karen Detwiler specializes in comprehensive eye care, contact lenses, pediatric eye care, geriatric eye care and the treatment of ocular diseases.
Dr. Karen Detwiler earned her Bachelor of Science Degree at the Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. She graduated with her Doctorate of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago in 1981 where she also earned an additional Bachelor Degree in Visual Science. Her clinical experience includes a staff optometrist position with Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida and an optometrist position with a private practice facility in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She was one of the original staff optometrists at Capital Health Plan when it opened in 1986. She has owned and operated her personal optometric practice in Tallahassee since 1997 and has practiced in Tallahassee for over 30 years. Dr. Detwiler is also a licensed Optometric Physician in the States of Virginia, Georgia and South Carolina.
Dr. Karen Detwiler’s Recognition and Professional Honors include Trustee of the Broward County Optometric Association, Vice President of the Broward County Optometric Association and the 2013 Business of the Year Founders Award. She is a member of the Florida Optometric Association, American Optometric Association and the Northwest Florida Optometric Association.
